Approval of September 2024 Treasurer’s Report
State Auditors - The state auditors are working on our FY23 and FY24 audit and will be onsite periodically over the next month.
Form Fire - We are starting the process of receiving our 2025 Health Insurance quotes from Phelan Insurance; our broker. The first part of this process is having all employees complete/update their information on FormFire.
Motion to approve a $500,000 certificate of deposit from First National Bank of Sycamore for a term of 12 months paying 4.46% interest.
Motion to approve a transfer of $162,887.50 from 001 General Fund to 002-9017 Bond Retirement-2017 fund. This transfer pays the annual principal and semi-annual interest payment on the roof.

Grants
A resolution on the agenda was approved for a grant for $9,914.00. This grant is through the Ottawa, Seneca, Sandusky Solid Waste District and is for picnic tables and benches around the track building and BB/SB field shelter house.
We are in the process of completing a Bureau of Workmans’ Comp grant to upgrade our maintenance hall ladders.
We received a $10,000.00 Ohio Department of Health grant for school nurse supplies.
Facilities
Activities
Under the direction of Mrs. Losey, government students ran a mock election with students in the elementary school. A Dr. Seuss themed primary was run on October 1 for students to narrow down their favorite book. Students will participate in the “general election” and will choose between the two finalists: How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Green Eggs and Ham for favorite book.
Jacket Leadership is planning “Clash of the Classes” on Tuesday October 15 in the evening for students in grades 6-12. Classes will compete in a number of events and challenges to earn sailor cup points.
The elementary fall fest will be held at the school on Sunday October 27, 2024 from 12-1:30 p.m. prior to the Halloween Parade at the school. Activities include hay rides, games and contests. Kona Ice and a coffee truck will be available for purchasing treats. This is sponsored by the PTO. Jacket Leadership is sponsoring and organizing the parade.
Under the direction of the music department, students and staff will be performing in the musical Annie. The musical will be the first in many years and will be held at the school’s auditeria on Friday, November 15 @ 7 p.m., Saturday November 16 @ 7 p.m. and Sunday November 17 @ 2 p.m.
The Senior Class Trip was approved to Walt Disney World from March 17-22, 2025.
October Board Presentation
Mrs. Depinet, Mrs. Schalk and Officer Morris presented on positive interventions and counseling support at New Riegel Local Schools. Specifics on the school’s PBIS programming, monthly initiatives, counseling supports, career cluster initiatives, college/career pathways and the role of Officer Morris was presented and discussed.
